BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hey everyone!

I decided to take some videos of Belinda, my new (first!) skink being adorable! I've had her for less than a week, but already when I come in she walks over to say hello and lifts her head to my hand to get pet! She also doesn't mind being held and likes to walk around my living room, especially if she gets banana pieces during the experience!

I videoed her being snuggly and enjoying a head patting, and chowing down on some dogwood-broccoli-peas-carrots dinner.

I'm sorry about the poor quality, I shot them with my phone.

ALSO I'd love if a knowledgable person could comment on their feelings about her over all health if they can tell from the videos (I'll try to take good pics tonight). I got her from pretty crappy conditions, and while she seems ok she sometimes make a little noise when she breathes. I have been trying to read up, but as a new and very novice skink owner I don't really know the difference between "whistling" and "wheezing" and I'm kind of a nervous new mother...

whistlign and wheezing?

the hiss with open mouth is a threat.
huffing is when their mouths are closed and they press a lot of air through their lungs, means to be cautious. some do it a lot and some almost never.
sneezing is when they sneeze 8D (sounds like a bicycle wheel air thing)

she looks great. calm and active at the same time.

dont feed too much peas or corn, sugar/water/vitamin content wise. broccoli should also be fed on occasion, since it can inhibit calcium uptake a little (if i remember correctly).
i add mostly leafy greens (and dandelion leaves in summer) since i have no good veggies available all year round, but i also hear squash is a bit of a veggie wonder if you need a staple mix that you can add, say broccoli or carrots to on occasion.
the meal i feed when my skink wakes from brumation will hopefully be as pretty as the one in the video....

She looks amazing. Not that you can see a lot of her in the videos but looking at those and the pictures you posted in your other thread, she looks like a gorgeous, healthy girl!
