The Litchie thread
Hes been brumating/semi brumating for 3 weeks. For 3 weeks ive been unable to see his cute little face and unable to feed him and clean the terrarium.
these photos are from last time he shed and earlier.
as you can see he is still pretty orange, but i really think hes become more yellow, and his tail pattern looks more light somehow?
i hope he looks healthy in your eyes too. cant hurt to check. hes had lots of energy though.

Re: The Litchie thread
Litchie is very handsome and shiny. Love that face and those colours.
Y'know ML, some people care about skinks for more than just the babies they produce -.-' Breeding is not the be-all and end-all of blue tongue skinks. Go play with ball pythons; you think like a BP person.

Re: The Litchie thread
Thanks
im happy to see he looks well to you too. Sometimes its hard to see small changes over a long time, and its always best to check.
ML, Litchie will live a long life. since i now seem to be back on my feet and will be able to get work in a few years time, i can start thinking of getting more blueys again. i have said it a lot of times already, but waiting until its perfect wont hurt anyone
breeding him i must save for when i can afford tanks for all baby skinks, since they need a lot of room and attention.
if i he had been awake i would take some pumpkin vs litchie photos, but hes sleepy and slow :/
another thing, ive seen many very well coloured northerns on the forum, some with near identical or stronger orange than litchie, so there are already many variations in northerns o__o <3
litchies orange is of course the strongest after shed, after that it tones down a bit. i must say i really like the soft brown before shed a lot too, when i cant even see a hint of orange. all blueys are amazing in how they change.
personality wise since i got him hes kinda more fearless......and stubborn......and spoiled. but never aggressive, just moving very quick and focused sometimes - it can be a bit surprising.

thank you. lets hope the skink ladies think the same of him - getting dumped by a bts is not pretty.
of course there are - and theres some awesome breeders of northerns too
northerns have extreme pattern variations too. each and every one super unique.
sunset and caramel northerns are available in USA and maybe Canada with some shipping too, i think.

Re: The Litchie thread
Yes we do have some nice skinks and good breeders here.
Bright and clean animals are still the vast minority. I guess that makes the pretty ones all the more appreciated.

Re: The Litchie thread
I would say Litchie's colour is a little enhanced by indoor flash photography, ML
but still, he's lovely.
Great face, Linnea and beautiful back end!

Ugh, please no! BP's are so overproduced right now. I have a serious concern for what's going to happen to all those snakes when the 'trend' of BP morphs goes out of style...

Re: The Litchie thread
That was the point. BPs are fine, but every person who owns one seems to feel the need to breed it, and breeders care far more about making pretty snakes than keeping the animals healthy. Breeders will do anything just to pop out more expensive babies, regardless of if it hurts the animal. Skink people seem to be different, we care about each skink as an individual. Even some of the biggest breeders treat every animal as an individual gift. Skink people rock my socks.
Personally, I am getting really upset with the "it's worthless if it's not breeding" and "real herpers breed their animals" attitudes -.-' I have infinite more respect for a person with one animal kept amazing well than a person with thousands of animals kept barely alive just to pop out more animals. Animals are living art, not baby factories. And breeding should be done for a good bloody reason, not to make an otherwise-worthless breeder feel like a big person. /rant
