Hello all! I haven't been really active here lately.... BUT I have been babysitting a friends skink for a while. The weather has been so nice lately that I put it outside with Lizzie. I came home today to find them wrapped around each other full on in the act! I thought they were both female but obviously not. I split them up straight away but Lizzie may now be pregnant. What do I need to look out for? How can I tell if she is pregnant?

Hard to tell if matings take early in the piece, but actual matings are a good sign, has the male shed recently

Things to watch for are increased appetite in a few weeks and ballooning as season goes on with laboured breathing later developing, some hide all the signs though and suprise you

If you would like babies maybe another play date or 2 will help,if so id love to see pics if u catch them again

Goodluck and keep us posted

Yes the male has shed recently. I think theyd been at it for a couple of days but last time when I went outside I scared them. I don't really know if I want babies or not.

yikes! are the 2 skinks at least the same locale? Usually not a good idea to leave two skinks together (depending on species), but especially if you dont know the sexes. Well, now you know :P

Haha yes I've got myself into a bit of a pickle haha! Richard yes I know haha! Ad Saphire yes they are both easterns and we THOUGHT we knew the sexes. It was just such nice weather outside and so convenient to have them together haha. Stupid choice in hindsight though.... :p

Its a great experience when they have babies, females have such a shirt window each year so u may have put them together right at that time when there both raring to go,lol

But may just be a frisky male to so maybe nothing to worry about,i find if they mate though there ready to go,lol,so would suprise me if u have a few mini lizzies running about in mid summer
