Screen top decreases UVB?

Does a sreen top on my baby's cage decrease the UVB? I am using a 5.0 Reptisun. If so, should I move up to a 10.0.
it is just a regular screen top that you would get with a terrarium.

If you have tight-woven screen, little to no UVB gets through. I've seen this demonstrated on a UVB meter using flyscreen (the stuff on screen doors to keep bugs out). Reading outside on a sunny day was super high, but behind the screen it dropped to nearly nothing. If your screen is wide enough to fit things through, some UVB will get through. The bigger the holes, the more UVB can get through.

Put the light inside the tank, cut some holes in the screen, or build your own tank-lid if you want your skink to get the UVB rays.
