Yay shedding!!

Postby BlueGuy » Thu Aug 23, 2012 7:11 pm

Ok so my skinks skin has been pretty dull since I got him looking like he was going to shed but never did. So today when I got home from work I did my usual check ( temp, humidity, water and food) and when I put the food in his enclosure he came out of his hide spot and started biting his food dish instead of the food??? Is that normal? After a couple bites on the food dish I guess he realized it wasnt food and then went for the food itself. And when he did this I could see his skin starting to come off in shed :ohyes:
Oh and I feed him some egg from my hand. it was amazing lol. Loved it!!

My guy does the same thing with his food dish. He attacks it and shakes it for a bit before he realizes the food is actually in there. Its probably the instinct of having to kill things. In the wild their food wouldnt be given to them in a dish or on a paper plate they would have to do a bit of hunting. He shakes up his worms too its pretty fun to watch.

True. Never thought of it that way. Yeah when I gave Nugget (BTS) Goliath worms he would beat the crap out of it before swallowing it. It is pretty fun to watch

Is it ok to pick him up when he is shedding?
