Basking Temp

Hi,

I'm getting a new BTS shipping to me on Tuesday. My current basking temp is between 94-96 is that ok?
I'm having a hard time getting it at exactly 100. I tried a taller basking rock and the temp went up to 104.
I figured 94-96 would be better then having the lizard overheat. What do you think? Thanks

94-96 is a very good basking temp.

What type of bts is it? Ideal basking temperatures vary from species to species. I feel that 90-95 is perfect for most bts from Indonesia, but with most Australian skinks, I would prefer the 104.

Except for those fortunate enough to have Highland Blotchies. :) For them I would suggest 90-95 is adequate.

Ok thanks, I managed to get it to 102 so I think I'm good to go.

Over heating is more an issue if theres no means to get away from basking spot,burn issues are mostly the result of a cold cage with to hot a basking spot,cold lizard has no choice but try to warm up,part of the reason heat rocks are risky,esoecialky small ones
