Is this ok?

Postby BlueGuy » Thu Aug 16, 2012 10:30 pm

In this picture look at his tail on top. Looks sorta like his scales are lifted up a little. Is that ok or could it be something? It was like that the day I brought him home too (2 days ago). Thinking its just from normal but i want to make sure.

Would it be possible to get a shot of his belly? His colour looks quite pale/dark on top and when young, they shed more frequently. Fading of colour on the belly indicates they are about to shed, most are less active during this period also. It could also be retained shed, or he could have had a bad shed previously and is now recovering. How old is he?

A little hard toi see with the lighting, he could be about to shed, but at the same time could just have a pale belly colouration. Surprising to see nobody else has offered input on the photo..

I am surprised as well that no one else has said anything either. His belly was pink but of course couldn't find the right lighting so anyone could see

If it's still there after the shed (which I agree looks to be coming soon), take another photo. Possibilities: old shed, old damage, mites. All can cause the scales to look odd. When it sheds this may go away. If not, do a really thorough check for mites. My guess is there's damage from being housed with siblings.
