FINALLY! Pictures of Skeeter's enclosure

Postby skeetersmom » Sat Jul 07, 2012 9:00 pm

As promised - pics of Skeeters enclosure. Took some instruction from my son - but I think I have this positing pics down...time will tell ;)

As always - comments are always welcome. Skeeter has now gotten used to aspen bedding - and I really think he likes it better than the shredded paper previously used - which I am thankful for. Thing is, I have to figure out what to do with the paper shredder ;)

Wow, very cool. I always like seeing the effort people put into their enclosures. Its obvious you put a lot of thought into Skeeter's :)

Thanks! His enclosure is changed around every week to keep things "new" for him...keeps him entertained. I don't move around the rocks that are hiding the plastic tube hide - but they are taken out to clean it out, just put back the way they were (for the most part). I am posting other pics in a thread called Skeeter..Skeeter..and more Skeeter

Amazing!!! Such an inspiration for my enclosure :-)
I'm actually in the car driving from the Reptile Expo in White plains, NY where I picked up my 4 foot by 2 foot aquarium for my bluey and these pics got me even more hype to get home & start setting up! Lol
Great job :D

The enclosure is 6 feet x 18 inches x 18 inches - got it off of craig's list for $50 (needed massive cleaning, and some repair and didn't come with a lid). I do woodworking - so I have a lot of 1/4" plywood around that I cut into 4 pannels; easily removed depending on what area of the tank I want to go to - and cut out two holes. One for UV and the other for night heat.

Perhaps a bit of an overkill - but all other tanks that were available (really wanted to get him out of the small tank he was in) were not in good shape (massive cracks) and when I put all of his accessories in, it does cut down on the footprint area.

Thanks - yes he is spoiled - and yes I love him very much - as with all my critters (snakes included)

I got the tube at Menards - but I am sure they have them at any hardware store. They are in the plumbing section. It is made out of plastic, and adjusts to different lengths. This method has been talked about in other threads - so I can't take credit for it.

Perhaps - but when you love what you do - dosen't seem like work. And mostly, I know Skeeter appreciates it :)

Yeah I definitely think I should have gone with the ribbed black tubing instead of the smooth PVC. Does Skeeter use it a lot?
