just want yall to wish augra luck i saw two or three baby mites and adults on him so i got him some new bedding but right now he just has paper down till i get him a hundred percent it sucks i know he loves it outside is there anyway to prevent him from getting them outside would it be good to give him a bath after every outting or is there some other stuff yall do im up for any suggestions bc he loves when i let him go outside

I honestly wouldnt worry about mites coming from outside if your just taking them out for short periods. If your that worried though, since I have two dogs which I cant let my skink near, I put a towel over a table and just let him roam about on it. I give him a little box if he needs shade and providing you monitor he doesnt dive off the table, then there shouldnt be any mites.

What are you currently using to treat the mites, and do you feel they came from taking him outside?

I believe it is rare for skinks to contract mites from outside. It is more likely the skink already had mites when you purchased it (mites have a strange life cycle and dont show up as adults right away) or they got them from the skinks substrate.
Keeping it on paper towels is right on but wout any decor while in treatment. What are you using?

im using some chemical brand dont have it with me right now it is supposed to spray on the reptile but i sprayed his cage and wiped it down all of his stuff in his cage i ran pure hot water on and let soak for half an hour or so i was iust thinking outside bc ive never had mites i checked our snakes they didnt have them just him it wasnt too bad on him i never see him soak he just drinks but im sure he will do fine

Yes, a bath after outside exposure is a great idea as it is actually very possible for your skink to pick up mites when he is outside. The likelyhood of this will of course depend on factors like: where you live, time of year, the freequency of exposures, and duration of time exposed.

Tomorrow he gets another bath qnd cage re cleaned i didnt see any babies im cleaning him and his cage and stuff for two weeks he has shed mostly just a few patches i just dont want anything happening to him

It is possible for them to get mites outdoors,but mire so if they spend alot of time out there,where i live,alot of wild blueys have them and my outdoors kept ones seem to get them,thsy are out 24/7,seems to really affect easterns,the botcheds get them to but not bad,i just trrat them with spray and add plants known to annoy mites

Others i keep indoors and put out in the sun have never got mites,but babies born outdoors ive brought indoors have got them,indoors speeds up the mite life cycle

Bathing them wont get rid of mites,be better off treating them with mite spray

whats a good spray to buy also should u just spray him just in case i got some mite spray from the local pet store lady for some reason the pet stores didnt have any for sale but this woman had some in back and we are friends so she let me use this stuff
