Feeding D Roaches Oranges

I just started a colony of D Roaches and I wast told to feed them oranges (aphrodisiac) - but I don't see oranges on the feeding chart. Since what the roaches, the BTS eats - is this something I am being overly concerned about (again)

No it's fine to feed the roaches citrus even though you shouldn't feed it to the bts. It's has healthful vitamins, but is too acidic for animals. After being digested by the roach, none of that matters though.

No it's fine to feed the roaches citrus even though you shouldn't feed it to the bts. It's has healthful vitamins,but is too acidic for animals. After being digested by the roach, none of that matters though.

Larissa - that is a rather generalised statement that citrus is too acidic for animals. I know from experience that Eclectus parrots eat not only oranges but also lemons and grapefruit including the pith and rind. I am also fairly sure I have seen many a documentary where apes in captivity also enjoy oranges.

I have a roach colony (Nauphoeta cinerea) and use carrots and some celery to provide water content.

In addition to the parrots, Green Jays also love grapefruit, I just read an article on that. I feed oranges to the Baltimore Orioles every season and the Red Bellied Woodpeckers eat the oranges as well.
Another take on this is I have a tree frog, which does not directly eat oranges, but my the crickets I feed it are fed oranges and in turn the frog eats the crickets. This does not in any way negatively affect the frog and in contrast is actually more beneficial for it as the feeders hold more nutritional value for the frog.

Lol Okay well for MANY animals it's bad, for some it's alright. I meant to say "the animal" (skink) not every animal on earth. It's a well known fact citrus is eaten by many different species. Many parrots shouldn't eat citrus while some do, but in this case I'm just basically talking about skinks since the rest wasn't all that important when it comes to this discussion. i didn't think it was important to tell the person about if citrus is okay for like a certain bird or other animal lol. I wasn't trying to talk about ALL the animals in the world lol XD

My point is that if an insect eats citrus and an animal that shouldn't eat citrus directly eats the insect, it's fine. I'm just really talking about skinks. lol

I, on the other hand, am an animal and I enjoy oranges tremendously.
