Re: ???
The dimensions of the tank are what matters the most, not so much the gallons - A smaller gallon tank with a large footprint is better then a larger gallon that is really tall with a little footprint.
What are the dimensions of the tank in question?

I have a 30 gallon breeder (36x18) and mine seems to have a good amount of room in there.

Bigger is always better, I'd say the 36" X 18" floorprint would be the smallest you'd want to go.

I agree with Joey, 12" is just a bit too narrow, even with the extra foot in length.
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Re: ???
In my opinion the animal should be able to walk down the length and along an end without having to bend too much, a full grown bluey can be 18-22 inches long so an 18" wide enclosure is the least I'd offer.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????

Re: ???
I would never use anything smaller than 18 inches.(wider would also be better) 12 inches will give barely any room to turn and move around comfortably and will only be at least half the length of the skink. That's like asking someone if they would rather sit in a square room or live in a hallway. It can be a long hallway but I'm sure you won't be comfortable when you have only enough room to turn around and are in such a cramped space. Plus we stand vertically, unlike how a skink would be on their stomach, so now imagine yourself crawling around on your stomach with only like 3 feet of room in a hallway where you might be around 5'10+ as the average humans height. it will make it really hard for you to turn around and im sure that just doesn't sound comfortable at all. Even when people get a 55 gallon tank, it may be pretty long, and look tall, but the skink does not use the height and the length does not make up for the width that is extremely small.Width is VERY important.

Not really. 40 gallon (long) is the MINIMUM i'd recommend. I've got my Northern female in a 75 gallon and she uses every inch.
12'' is HALF the length the bluey is...I cant imagine that being comfortable...Hence the reason I dont use 55 gallon tanks, they are too narrow IMO.
