Best bedding?
I am allergic to Aspen, and it seems a lot of people like that bes for their blueys. Is there anything else I can use that won't suck the moistre out of the air, like carefresh? I just want him to be as happy as possible!

I was under the assumption that sand is bad for BTS... I was thinking of using the bedding we use for our rats, it is basically a finely shredded newspaper blend. It has gotten wet in our rat cages due to water bottles plenty of times and we have not seen any rub off of ink on any of our pretty white ratty bellies! Let me know what you all think?

Re: Best bedding?
sand is a horrible substrate, and there are only a VERY few species that do well in it. It can kill the others, or cause them to have to have some pretty horrible amputations. Its very unsanitary as well as heavy and messy. Dusty sand can cause Respiratory infections. Aspen, ecoearth, organic topsoil (after you cook it for 250*F for an hour), carefresh, cypress mulch, etc. There are a bunch of different ones, but it all comes down to trial and error about which one YOU and your skinks prefer. To prevent any worries about ink stains, I hear that you can sometimes go to your local newspaper producer and get miscut rolls of blank newsprint paper. (cant remember the exact name
)
