Thor's back!

I'm really exited to have Thor back. She's been at Ray's since early November. Breeding didn't go well this year but we'll try again next year. Anyway....I figured a pic or 2 was in order:

I had this answered earlier but somehow my post disappeared before I could post it so here I go again

Her (or his --- we still don't have a 100% ID on gender) eye seems to be doing better. Maybe it was some sort of trauma or low humidity problem??? Ray thought maybe it could have been from overeating. Either way I'm only using cypress mulch for bedding (not Carefresh anymore) and she's been on a diet for a while. She was the only skink at least house that had to lose weight to breed LOL. I'm thinking the nails could use cutting but they always look like they need cutting to me because of the nail curling problem.

So true I assumed that I would never find out if it was a boy or a girl and never really considered breeding. I was in a Viking History class at the time so I went with the name of my favorite Norse God Thor. Now I'm stuck with a really masculine name LOL. The jury is still out on whether Thor is a boy or a girl so we'll see. My new rule is that ALL reptiles either get a unisex name or I have to know for sure what the sex is before naming. This is why my red foot tortoise doesn't have a name yet.

Bummer on breeding. Was he/she too grumpy?

From what Ray described she seemed completely disinterested in mating. On the other hand hardly any of the skinks at Rays wanted to breed this year. Between weather not cooperating and Ray getting the flu at the worst time nothing worked out. I'm not sure if it was just the weather situation or maybe she is too old to breed. This also made it difficult to get a 100% gender ID. Let's just hope we get somewhere next year, not just with Thor but with all the skinks.

how old is it,doesnt look to old,also looks like a female to me,maybe didnt cycle,hence no interest by males

sometimes it happens. My girl hadnt actually come out of brumation all the way and so was uninterested in my male. It happens *shrug*
at least no one mauled each other in the process
