Merauke or irian jaya ?

Was trying to identify for a friend and frankly i see both species haha i was leaning more on merauke but then i got the rest of the pics witch appear Irian jaya for lack of the crazy tail length. looking forward to opinions ty!

Rookie. Very pretty. Look at the single line on the back of the neck (IJs tend to have a trident or at least more markings, Meraukes have a single line).

I should point out I said Rookie for "merookie" not calling you a newb. Totally didn't notice that till now, sorry. You were right that the tail is quite short for a Merauke, and it's never bad to second guess. You should see my whenever an odd Scincoides appears... Always better to ask and be sure than to always wonder.

I read that as Rookie = newb and was surprised you'd say that! Makes more sense that way.

I haven't used the word rookie in so long. I was just in a fanciful mood and calling Meraukes Rookies for some reason. I think I need more sleep sometimes. Didn't mean to insult

I pegged this as a merauke the second i saw it. I LOVE these guys! I love the nice clean background your friends has and the colorful banding. Very nice skink! Jealous!

Bahh Ty for clarifying Even so i was not terribly offended, just took it as it was. only a word. I was more focused and pleased with the accurate identification and the fact that you enlightened me of the significance of the single solid line as apposed to the fork. much appreciated guys!
