I broke his heat lamp just before taking these pics.... have to go buy another one this afternoon...otherwise this is his set up.

And here he is in one of the little hideouts.

Looovvveee the tongue!

Looks like he's thinking --- "Hey, get that camera outta my face!"

I love the colours.

Am I right in thinking he is an Indonesian? (I am an expat living on Borneo, so figure from the location and description that he is).

beautiful skink,id say yes to indo, lovely coloring, looks in great shape to,also his home looks great to,lots of options in there for him,i say he lightly, could very well be a she,lol

i notice he/she has a bit of shed on it still,if it doesnt come off by itself u can always give them a hand, either soak the animal for a bit,or just use something moist and softish to help try to take it off, looks like its done a pretty good job though,so may be fine getting it off its self, thanks for sharing

is there a way to tell the sex? Is there a specific pic I should take so you (or others) could help me sex it? At least the name my kids chose could be either!! LOL

Very nice looking skink! I know a couple people who would LOVE to get their hands on a yellow indo like that. The tank looks great too. Welcome to the forum!

Just thought I'd share....

Most of the stuff in the tank is actually for turtles/tortoises.

The hollow log is the floating variety but in here, is Roxy's favourite spot to "bask" as she climbs on top.

The plants are actually aquarium plants.

And the backing is garden edging taped together vertically instead of end to end.

Roxy has been exploring every part.

UPDATE......

Roxy has explored every part of the enclosure... and has started trying to climb the walls. I got worried that Roxy would fall, so took out the backing. Now he/she is just "trying" to climb the glass..... is this normal?

Should I put a cover on the back and sides?

Very active... but still not eating.

yes - put cover on the back, and the sides if you can :D

climbing the glass is pretty normal for some of them to do. they do not understand what glass is, so it feels like open space to them. bts are often very stubborn, so once theyre set on going from point A to point B they wont stop till they have to breathe or to think about why it wont work to go through the glass.

when stressed or when looking for more treats or any the like, some bts may climb to see if it works, and some just wont give up. adding something that gives the feeling of extra walls, gives extra security. but you may still find your skink climbing on the non covered side for a while yet. just keep an eye on him/her so he wont fall badly (they usually handle it very well).

since you seem to have a very active skink, i bet he/she is just too curious to think about food xD

they even try climbing up the sides of black tub enclosures,so not just glass, they may settle after a while

I added more substrate cos Roxy seemed to be shoving her head into it at random points.

She proceeded to bury under the substrate in the deepest area and settle down to sleep.

Sorry to sound ignorant... but does this indicate anything? or just that she wanted a nice comfy/warm place to sleep?

she may like the extra substrate and feel more secure now,or just felt like hiding in it at the time, hard to tell, but if she mellows off the climbing could be a sign, and she doesnt feel the grass is greener elsewhere

The climbing and searching was likely just looking for a safe place to hide. If none of those hides are super snug and secure (which they probably aren't if you can get pics of her in them), then she was still feeling a little exposed. Once you added enough substrate to bury herself in then she could hide and feel safe.

I'm kicking myself so hard ...i had an indo even more yellow that this in my possession, and i didnt realize I could adopt to breed him after a year, so i let it go. I've been looking for one like that since!

What a gorgeous skink, and WOW at that setup!

Now a week in and she still hasn't eaten. I am refreshing the food daily and offering variety, but still no interest. She is drinking from the water bowl every day.

She is roaming around sometimes, hiding and basking under the heat lamp regularly.

Any suggestions on how to get her to eat?
