Hiding (still!)

So I've had Rex for 2 weeks and he still always ides I have to take him out to put him under heat or give him his food or water. Once I take him out he starts exploring his cave but he never comes out by himself. Why?

Because he is a BTS. If you wanted an animal that craved your attention, then a dog would have been a better choice.

Everyone has bt's that come out to get food mine never comes out.

If you leave food in the cage and leave the animal alone, I would bet money that eventually it will come out. And trust me, I have many BTS and some of them dont come out for several days, or they will simply come out and eat and go back to hiding.

BTS are not social animals by nature.

Thats because he is still new and scared.

The best thing to do is to just leave him alone. Dont take him out and put him places. Ive had Zeke for what, just over a month and a half now? And its only the past week that hes been comfortable to sit out and bask whilst we are in vicinity, otherwise he would quickly slip into his hide.

Just give him time and leave him be~

yeah mate,i tend to agree with above,its very common for new ones to hide alot,especially juvies,i find it best to leave them be at first,they will come out when they are ready,usually when no ones around,give them time to become accustomed to you,once they learn u arent going to harm them and you bring them food,then they mellow and not hide as much,like brad said though,sometimes even adult accustomed ones will hide for a few days ect

theres some great ideas in the faq section to that show different options for getting them used to you

haha i have one who takes his food dish with him into his hide ...He is also a chronic rearranger though

I'd say give it time, and he/she will come around.
