Good luck with that, would probably end up like trying to bath a feral cat. ;-)

One good strategy is to have a porous tile or so on an incline to a basking spot, that way they will be continually wearing them similarly in the wild. Other than that filing would cause unnecessary stress. Good luck.

like bathing a feral cat

best to try and have rocks ect for basking on,flat but some courseness to help wear nails down a bit, filing a juvies nails would be pretty hard, could easily hurt there tiny feet and toes to,your little tyke should,nt need nail trimming yet,and if u need to ever down the track, much safer and easier using nail clippers, probably alot less stress on the lizard and your self trying to file as well

Just a thought, whenever I clip my skinks nails I do it in the morning so he can't squirm as much because he hasn't had time to go under his light yet and gain more energy >:)

most of mine have some rough(ish) basking rocks, and only need their nails cut once in a blue (hehe) moon. The only one who needs nails cut about every 2 weeks is my much older male (8-10 yo) whose nails grow very fast and just dont get worn down on his rock for some reason. His nails are also much different from everyone elses, not sure if it was the previous care, or what.
