Blueys love to dig, trample, taste test and move around stuff to their liking.

a live plant will meet a cruel destiny within one or two days.
at the very best your bts will only eat it and not spread it around the cage.

you can always try to plant healthy edible plants and put them in there.....your choice.

if your cage is big enough u could cover pots and have them in there to protect from blueys, dracaena and ficus bushes, pony tail palms ect

if a small cage, maybe try some wall mounted plants

As a general rule only put live plants in your BTS tank if your goal is to have dead plants in your BTS tank.

That's funny.
But really - if you have the right lighting you could possibly keep a live plant in the tank. People grow "special" plants in dark rooms with lamps all the time ;-)
I just wouldn't recommend it, unless you have 10 green thumbs. Because it is more work, and you are adding more maintenance to the care of your skink than need be.

Green thumbs aside, you'd want to make sure you have an Indonesian species that can handle the humidity and be prepared for plant death. And make sure the plants are edible. I don't know of anyone on this forum, short of people with large, outdoor pits, that have live plants in the enclosures. It could work, but it would be a pain and probably not worth the effort. :D

u can use plants for all types of blueys, even desert types, but u may need to upsize enclosure considerably and like whats been mentioned, its more work again as u have plants and animals to cater for and u need to maintain the right condition for both,i think some of the indo species could well benefit from it personally

2 books on the subject i found good, both from avs are design and maintenence of desert vivaria and the art of keeping snakes, the snake ones on snakes but the info is good for lizards to,worth a look, some excellent info in both

,covers it all in great detail

I am a noob to BTS but I have a 3 ft tank with uv light. I have 3 live plants in there, all varietites of ferns. They are in small pots and I water them about once a week. Lollie really doesn't show much interest in them but they look good and seems quite healthy. And I thought that adding the extra water and and the uv light help prvide a good humid climate. Everyone seems healthy so I am hoping that I haven't done anything drastically wrong?
