Merauke x IJ or just IJ.
Are they for sale somewhere?

If it wasn't for the stubby tail, I would say an obvious Merauke, faded blue tongue skink (Tiliqua gigas evanescence). The tail is confusing though. I look forward to your explaination.

The three lines on the back of my neck makes me say not a Merauke. I'll go with IJ for them.

I though Ij's had clean front legs? I would lean towards Meraukes, but I am very new to IDing. But it is fun to try. I have learned alot from this site, a year ago I couldn't have told the difference between an Indo, an IJ, Eastern....etc...

I'm with Jeff. I'd probably be inclined to say Merauke except the tail is so short and like Mel said, the lines look more IJ. Without knowing anything about these animals, I would think that it is mostly Merauke with some IJ characteristics.

I think there was a hint in your other thread with Merauke pics though. Do you have pictures of the parents?

Actually IJs front leg patterns are extreemly variable just like everything else about them. IJs can have very heavily patterened front legs. and they can be almost pattenrless as well. The key word is variable...

Nice call, you got it right. However I fear I gave you a huge hint with the Hybrid photo caption on that Merauke in the last photo that you asked about. Still a good call. I have no idea where they are now. They were captive bred by a breeder (not me) who bred an IJ male to a Merauke female. Here are photos of the parents.

Aside from the lines on the back of the neck they're basically the new Meraukes. Pretty parents.

I stopped thinking about that since you never answered the question
I saw characteristics from both which is why I say hybrid/intergrade.
DOES THAT GET ME STARS?!?! YOU ALL GOT IT WRONG!!! :hehe:

They are not mine to say. That being said, these are pretty old (about 10 years old) photos, and I have no idea where they are now, or even who it was that bred them. I will have some really nice northerns this summer, and I am sure Jeff will have some super nice looking Northerns this summer as well.

Sarah - check this out if you are looking to buy: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19635

I'll be adding breeders and they have babies available... but that reminds me, James can you email me your contact info or how you would like buyers to get hold of you so I can add you to the list? :D

Thanks for the pics, that was really interesting. Sad that hardly anyone can get Merauke babies and yet people can get hybrids / integrades. I am surprised with how Merauke-looking those are for being half IJ, that is really interesting.

I'll add you to the recommended breeders, saying that you're breeding Northerns, in California, and sold out for 2011. Am I missing anything? Thanks! :D

Isn't recommended because he abuses shingles and Easterns... *cough* :hehe:
xxmonitorlizardxx on the other hand has awesome examples of all of the gigases and beautiful cages.

No, that covers it. Thank you very much. I will have to email you a current photo of me to add to the get to know the members list, but be warned, it won't be pretty.
