Jeff's "baby" Shingleback Skink (Alex)
OK, I am finally getting around to posting some photos of my visit to Jeff's house back in late January. I took what I thought were many photos, but I was just beginning to figure out my new iPhone, and it turns out I was taking video without knowing it. As a result, I just got these 3 photos. They are of Alex, the baby Shingleback that Jeff produced (along with the help of his adult Shingleback skinks). That being said at only 7-8 months of age, this youngster was already larger than its mother. We both think it is a female, and she is not fat, just big, and by big, I mean massive. Her size, health, and very existence are all testaments to Jeff's excellent husbandry. I felt so lucky to be there and see her. It was unreal. Thanks Jeff, I really appreciate having been given such a great opportunity.
Note: I tried posting this a few times, but I think the photos files are too large. I will try to reduce them and add them later.

Good to see you on here, James!!
I'd love to see photos, I'm jealous that you got to meet Alex in person!
I find the easiest way to upload photos from my iPhone is to email them to myself, save them on my desktop and then post them. If you want to upload them from an iPhone directly, you need to use a site like photobucket to host the images.

One thing that really sticks out when you see her in person is her huge eyes. She is really something!

James thought it was cool the way Alex would display when we took her outside that day, so he kept trying to make her do it over and over to get a picture.
Poor Alex just doesn't have the energy to act tough long enough to get pictures.

Wow. I had no idea what a mean person James is.
Thank you for posting that very informative video. Poor, poor little Alex!
So ferocious and then just got too lazy to bother displaying.

Ok, ok, now everybody knows what a mean bad person I am. Yes it is true, I will do anything for a good photo. Jeff, I was getting ready to scold you for exposing me and my bad behavior, but then I looked up and saw the title of the u-tube post "James Is Mean" and I could not stop laughing. I am still smiling as I write this.

Re: Jeff's "baby" Shingleback Skink (Alex)
Richard, my stumpies NEVER display inside. There is absolutely nothing I could do to make them while they are inside. As soon as they get outside though, it is completely different. Within five minutes they will display every time I approach them. They especially hate James.
. I think it is because he is ugly.
I have not seen this in any other species, but all of the skinks that live inside change when they are outdoors. It is as if they revert to wild behavior as soon as they see the sky.
