id say thatsize would be ok for a single adult,id prefer a smidge wider say 90 by 60 floor space ,just for the extra room, but they will live happily in an enclosure the size you mention

Thanks.

At first, I think that this size are to small for a Tiliqua scincoides, but the size of the chimaerea subespecies are small, respect the others.

Don´t need more space... not?

In my country, tiliquas are not popular as a pets. Sad, but people prefer "play pokemon" with Eublepharis phases...

Well...

I can increase the base of the terrarium to have 100x50 centimeters (it´s a artesanal terrarium). And other question: 40 cm of height are good? or you decrease / increase this measure?

100 x 50 cm would be better.

40 cm height should be good. As long as you can get the basking temperature correct it will be fine.

I think you are the first person from Spain on here. :D Nice to see people keeping tiliqua in Spain as well!

you shouldnt need more space,i cant see your pic but if a juvie its got a while before its adult size anyways,i normally use at least 120 long cages, but usually house more than 1 adult er cage, except for some of my northerns who live singley

the main thing is you have to supply a good temp gradient, hot spot for basking at one end,and cooler at the other end to get away from the heat if it wants,so it can control its body temp,i like to offer more heat then normal at one end to more cool than needed at the other, that way you can see what the animal chooses and gives them the options they need

40 cm height is fine, but i recomend a secure lid,one u add basking rock or any furniture they may be able to get out of an open top cage,i have a male kimberley northern that escaped his old 45 cm enclosure alot, even wedging through what i thought was a secure screen top, lol, luckily he mostly ended up in the stumpy tail enclosure, first time he got out he was found in my sand goanna makeshift cage, they had already been set up in there outdoor cage luckily enough,so in the end i left him in with the stumpys,he will soon be transfered to his own enclosure,a 120x60 by 45 cm high glass front wooden enclosure

I live in a rented apartment, for studies, so I can´t have a too big terrarium, as I wish I, because the apartment is in a city, and in holidays, go to my village. And the terrarium and skink come with me, obviously.

For these reasons, I have adapted the terrarium and the electiob of te subspecie of to my needs:

- Terrarium: The cage is made of PVC, therefore, is durable, lightweight and insulating, easier to transport than a cage made of glass.

- The skink: I chose Tiliqua scincoides chimaere because, apparently, is the smallest subspecies and not as active as the others. So their space needs, I suppose, would be even lower.

The breeder who sold me the young male, I recommended such measures for an adult. At first, it seemed to me a small terrarium, but when I read about their small size and low activity, I started thinking it was a correct measure...

I wanted to make asking in this forum, which is a reference point for Tiliqua lovers on the net.

Then, with a base of 90x45 cm is sufficient. Thanks.

But on the height of the cage, if you could choose, how much give? 33 cm?

There would be no problems burning with the lighting and heating, because the bulbs would go out of the terrarium, a kind of cap, similar to the Exo Terra Compact Top:

Hello again.

I have a question ...

It is assumed that the dog food is an easy and healthy to provide animal protein to the diet of skinks? I read that cat food is bad.

Use the dry or the wet (meat sauce or paté)? I suppose that you offer mixed with fruits and vegetables.

It doesn't matter that much whether you use dog or cat food.
Use the wet type.

Hello again.

About the food moist, there are two kinds, meat sauce and pate... what use?

I found the two types, brand pedigree.

Another question: pepper is good for them?

PD:see the small Tiliqua in the photo healthy?

Cat food has added taurine which to the best of my knowledge has not been shown as necessary for a BTS.

All meat protein has a poor Ca:P balance with chicken based foods having the greater imbalance. A large number of cat foods are chicken or fish based to cater for an obligate carnivore, BTS' are omnivores.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who do not.

I probably would look for something better in ingredients than pedigree. We don't even offer it to our cats or dogs at our store.
