Not eating solids?

I have a newborn BTS and was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of when he will be intersted in solid food?I an not sure of his exact age all the breeder said is young he is about 3 1/2 inches long.I try a lot of kinds of food and he is only intrested if I make it baby food smooth,then he licks it up.Ideas?

I feed babies dog food the day after they are born, and it is rarely refused for more than a day or two. New borns eat very small amounts at first though due to extremely small stomachs. It is possible that he is eating as much as he can (if you are leaving the food with him long enough), but it is so little that you are not noticing that he has eaten.

Also, the youngest captive born BTS in the U.S. Right now should be at least 6-7 months old. Is it possible that the skink is an import or was born to a mother that was caught and imported whe she was gravid?

I emailed the seller last night and he assures me that they are cb.

Any chance you could post some pictures? Do you know what species it is? 3 1/2" seems really small, even for a newborn. I am wondering if it might be a Tanimbar because they have tiny babies.

that seems really small to me too. Also, if he said they are CB, that could absolutely mean Captive Born. aka from a gravid import. As opposed to Captive Born and Bred (CBB).
And as much as i hate to say it, depending on how much you trust the person you got this baby from...these people can and do lie to make a sale. The red flag to me about this seller is that he doesnt know the exact birthday of a newborn?? Did he breed them himself or is he a middle man?

I've been lied to many times, or misinformed, but since i do tons of research, i usually walk away.
However, this isnt to say most or all people do this. I've bought animals from some really amazing people. Like Doug Dix in the Pacific Northwest area of the states. If you ever get a chance to talk to that guy, hes really awesome.
