Skinks like music...?

Postby Jambi » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:23 pm

My Skink always insists on being on, under, or next to the computer when music is playing. He walks right up next to speakers if music is on, when I play guitar, he walks over to me, and if I walk past his tank singing along to a song, he always perks right up. Anyone think this is possible? Or have similar experiences? I read in Ray Autry's facebook group, a lady who says her Carpet Pythons like to sit on top of speakers when she plays music, and certain Snakes of hers react differently to different music.
It's only right for my IJ to like music, I mean he was named for a Tool song

Doesnt this have to do with the vibrations of sound and not the actual noise they hear?

Noise is vibrations that our ears are able to interpret. Who knows what skinks hear compared to us, but they do have ears so it could be they like sounds. They definitely react to my voice (which isn't a ground-carried-vibration) which my snakes don't do.

In nature a skink moving towards sounds/vibrations could be looking for food sources, but could also lead to meeting a predator. Would love to hear thoughts on it :)
