Eye problems?

So while giving marvin her meds today I noticed that her eye looked funny. When she closed it the eye lids barley closed at all but it looked like a 3rd eye lid had covered the eye though. There is some discharge coming from the eye and the bottom lid is kind of indented towards the eye. When she blinks her eye goes back into the socket alot then goes back to normal? Why has this happened all of a sudden?

try reading over the caresheet one more time to refresh your memory and make 100% you're doing everything right, check your temps.

The temps are higher than normal (Vet reccomended) She's getting the iggy food (Vet recomended) I don't see what could have caused this eye problem. She's been on paper towel for a bit (2-3 weeks) because of the dust from her aspen. so it's not a shaving in the eye.

Strange problems with eyes and feet seem to happen to imports occasionally. I'm dealing with a similar sounding issue with my little houseguest and I know Sapphire dealt with a similar issue. I don't think it is necessarily related to husbandry, some of these issues seem to be issues that pop up with gigas skinks - it is very frustrating.

Phaemas - talk to your vet again, your vet will have to help you with this.

unfortunately STILL dealing with this problem. That 3 day power outage cause a relapse, and shes rubbed her eyelids practically off. She has her good days and her bad days, but we are only 4 shots into another 10 shot regimen, so we'll see.

I hope your eye problem is easier to deal with than mine!

Firstly, go back to your vet. Your skinks seem to have no end of issues and these are best dealt with by a professional who can see them first hand.

Secondly, although I am guessing, not being able to see your poor skink, animals get lowered levels of immunity when on antibiotic medications, this makes them susceptible to other infections, particularly ear, nose, throat, skin infections, which have a higher risk at the best of times, being easy portals. You need to keep the living area clean and dry and keep close watch on those areas.

But, please! Before this turns into something major, get back to your vet! You appear to be trying hard to make her better, but this constant flow of problems makes me wonder whether you ought to consider giving your skink to someone who is a better position to care for her .... I am not criticising your efforts so far, just encouraging you to make sure you are making the right choices for your skink's future. Having to rely on your parents can be hard, as you've seen and until you can financially support your animals, they might be best of with someone who can.

Gotta also agree with Leababy. I have had to give up several exotics in the past when I had bitten off more than I could chew for one reason or another. It is a hard thing to do, especially if you are a proud individual and stubborn to think that you can still help, but in the end you might be doing the right thing. Not to mention the financial strain you might be giving to your parents with the vet visits and such. Sorry if it does sound harsh...

Sounds a lot like an issue my gecko had. she had a vitamin A deficiency (her body doesn't seem to absorb it) which caused a film layer over her eye that would semi harden. it looked like another eyelid or stuck shed. by the time the vet figured it out, her eye site was gone. we had to treat it with antibiotic eye ointment and vitamin injections.
