BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi, I've read on this forum that terrariums that open from the side is better when attempting to handle your skink. Is it all that bad having a typical terrarium where you can grab the skink from the top?

Do any of you have both types of tanks and seen any differences in how your skinks react? I've been coasting craigslist in search of the right tank :]

Yo! It's a toss up question really, both are fine. Some believe that coming at the animal from the top can spook them more easily, and that can be true, but if the animal is interacted with regularly, it's not a problem. I have both, however keep the babies in top opening enclosures. Whatever you decide, a big hand is coming at the bluey either way!

I think it depends on the animal.
I have a WC Indo, and she is terrified of the screen top (and I'm sure my hand isn't helping things either).
When I have the money I am going to get a front opening PVC enclosure.
