Tanimbars
What is the difference between silver and yellow ones. Is it a locality difference. A morph? Something else?

Tanimbars used to come in many, many colors. Brownish/grey was the normal color, but they could also be found in red, yellow, silver, green, etc. In a way it's very similar to Keis.
Unfortunately due to their bad attitudes no one wanted to deal with them (when Northerns and IJs were much nicer) so these breeds were largely ignored.
A few people took an interest and grabbed what they could, and bred similar-colored Tanimbars. That's how the Silver and Yellow lines are in captivity today.
There's no big difference, it's not a morph, it's just like Caramel and Classic and Sunset Northerns. The rarer ones are more expensive (yellow over silver tannies, sunset/caramel over classic Northerns).
It could possibly be a locality difference, but we don't know enough about them in the wild to be able to say that. So for now we try to breed similar-to-similar to keep what variety we have left.

I would love to have a Tanimbar in the future that I have some more skink experience. They sound like a real challenge to tame.
Then again, so was my Northern. She's still kind of testy sometimes.

IMO and experience, the northerns I had before I decided to just concentrate on keis and tannies had more of an attitude than my tannies. My keis are by far the most aggressive skinks I have had, while the majority of my tannies are complete sweethearts.
While I have not had the opportunity to handle a WC Tanimbar, I have found that CBB are really no more difficult to "tame" than any other skink.

I have to agree with Brad that I do not see tannies are being agressive. I definitely see them as being very skittish and somewhat defensive. Even my WC skink (caught as a baby) is extremely skittish.
I do not consider my tannies to be 'pets'. They don't want to be played with, and almost never want to come out with me. They enjoy watching me, and they'll take treats from my hand very nicely, but they don't really care for social interactions. I will never sell them as pets for families with kids, it wouldn't be fair to the skink or the family IMO.
Meraukes, while harder to breed, are way better pets IMO. Almost the best pet skink I could think of. They almost all seem to be naturally tame. They're not as active but they're large, sturdy and sweet. I definitely feel that Meraukes make better pets than Tanimbars. I would love to see Meraukes as available as IJs and Northerns.

I honestly cant remember whether it was keis or tannies that were aggressive, but in your post Fatal you said
"Unfortunately due to their bad attitudes no one wanted to deal with them"
So I presumed that it must have been the tannies I was thinking of. But after reading your last post Im presuming you mean skittish - wise, not aggressiveness?

Tannies and Keis are considered to be the most aggressive BTS, and Indos come next. I've never experienced Keis (very few people have, those lucky bums), but I found (and other concur) that CB tannies are not nearly as aggressive as they were originally thought to be, but rather very skittish/defensive. As in they're not going to hunt you down, but if they can't run they have no problem biting you. They also pee and poop on you, a lot.

Ohh such lies! I still have the 3 pairs of silver tannies. Has Varanus, INC. breed or just purchase from Ray?
2..If I buy a pair... If they're still for sale...If I have room...

I hope you're thinking about how hard it is to sell Tanimbars...
