Introducing Sam

Postby Katrina » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:12 pm

Most people know I got one of Mel's gorgeous baby Northerns - Baby Z from the Evita x Wasp litter. We finally decided on a name - Sam. I wanted girl names but every time I assign a girl name to a baby it turns out to be a boy, so I was told it had to be a unisex name!

Anyway, here are some pics of the little cutie:

Thanks so much Mel! :D

Who else on here has babies from Fatal_S? Please add pics!!

O___O i agree with mimi. have you painted some of that colour on? XD

but i really must ask, why does fatals northerns have such distinct tail lines? i dont see that on the other images of northerns, so im curious.

Congratulation! That may be the most drastic color contrast I have ever seen, both the baby and parent. That is a very rare and beautiful trait. I will be looking forward to seeing what great offspring comes from this one in the future!

That's a good observation. Baby Northerns often have quite distinct banding on the tails which as they grow gets 'muddied'. If you look at pictures of the parents, the banding is sometimes still there but not solid bands like you would see on a gigas, a much more blurred / muddied bands. If you see very distinct bands on an adult "Northern" tail it is a good indicator that it has some IJ in there.

The colour contrasts are quite incredible.

Thanks! :D I am LOVING this little one, it has been a long time since I have acquired a little baby BTS and not an adult so the size makes me do a double take every time. So cute!!

The orange does look photo shopped or painted on - although given my artistic skills that isn't possible. If my photos look good it is because of the camera, not the photographer!

I took a few other pics of Sam (Sammi  ) but the black background ended up looked washed out compared to the cream one.
