Im waaay too excited to finally get a blue tongued skink after learning and wanting them for pretty much 5 years :p
I've done tons of research, but im interested in what first hand experience people have had with certain food choices and other oddbaall questions.
When is the best time to feed a baby BTS, and should a small snack be given if you feed it early in the day, but not too close to nighttime when i shut off the lights? or is the golden rulee just once a day?
is there a certain supplement that is better than the other?
Ive heard that the calcium/phosphourus ones could cause problems if they got enough phosphourus in their diet. So basically whats better.... calcium, calcium + D3, calcium+phosphorus, or general multivitamin. Most of the calcium contents seem to be over 30%, but the multivitamins ive looked at contain other things but calcium levels are alot lower. SO WHICH ONE ? (:
BABY FOOD !
do you think that a small amount of holistic baby food would be okay? Nothing too sweet but maybe a tablespoon of a fruit blend or even some squash blend? Just to have something easy to lap up and probably really tasty for them.
Thanks for taking the time for reading (:
food choices, supplements and.... baby food? :P

No need for snacks - reptiles don't need to eat all that often. I'd offer food daily for the first several months and then cut it back to every second day or so. By time it is 8-12 months old (depending on individual, appetite and size) you only need to feed once or twice a week.
For supplements - I would use a calcium and a multivitamin one. No need to supplement phosphorus ever. If you provide UVB lighting correctly you don't really need D3, but it still can't hurt. If you aren't using UVB then definitely use calcium plus D3.
Baby food as a treat is ok, but don't feed too many wet, runny foods. Texture is good. But the unsweetened ones are fine, squash blends would be healthier than fruit ones.
Don't worry - questions are great. We never mind!

Once my babies have hit the 1 month mark I tend to feed them bigger meals every second day, but daily is also an option. I use a calcium+D3 supplement sprinkled on top every second meal for the growing babies. I also have a multivitamin every few meals.

There's no known cases of vitamin D3 toxicity in BTS, but if you have the UVB you probably don't need the added D3.
