Postby reaperreptiles » Fri Aug 05, 2011 3:26 pm

ok, so my female (at least i was pretty sure she was a female) pooped this out today. first came the urates, then the poop then this. i had to pull it out of poop so its kinda dirty, but its EXTREMELY sticky gooey and long. i know its not any kind of parasite one bc i know what they look like and two she has been dewormed. is this a seminal plug?!

its about 78 on the cool side and 98 in the basking area. feeding on the same diet, welless dog food, mixed greens, occasianal piece of fruit, squash, and her occasional pellet treats. no changes in temps or diet.

It is definitely not a seminal plug. It looks like stomach/intestinal contents to me (aka: vomit or poop). Here are some seminal plug photos for you.

Hard to see the size... but could it maybe be an un-fertilized ova?

No, It is definitely a poop. It looks like it has a little undigested or underdigested material in there, but basically just poop of one sort or another. Here is a photo of an infirtile ova.

with the infertile ovas, do females sometimes drop these even if they havent been bred. kinda like other female reptiles just laying infertile eggs whether theyve been introduced to a male or not? are the ovams hard and calcified??

They are soft and waxy. Females drop them when they have bred. I have never seen or heard of a female dropping one otherwise.
