Picky eater

Postby Dark Diva » Wed Jul 06, 2011 2:18 pm

Vyv up and decided a month ago that the food we were feeding him was not up to his standard. How do I know? Well he pooped in his food bowl with out ever touching the food. Okee Dokee....so we changed it up and after a few tries and reading every post on this forum I could find we finally found some foods he will eat. The Pedigree dog food recommended is a crowd pleaser as well as a once in a while treat of a scrambled egg.

If he could reach his fingers he might lick them...guess we have to settle for the face.

Thanks to all you folks with all of your great advice. I have one happy skink on my hands.

if a skink is not hungry (enough), it will not eat what it likes less, even if its good for it.

if your skink is an adult, feeding every three days or twice a week is totally normal, and skipping a meal or two is okay.

so just chop the veggies and mix the dog/cat food like usual.

pooping in the food bowl, ive read here that many skinks do that. it most surely doesnt mean he doesnt like the food. My Litchie ( northern) poops at random places. sometimes in the food bowl too, and if he does, he avoids the food around it for entirely normal reasons....

lol mine have done that *silly skinks* but they love their "chow". They simply adore the pedigree...but they poop where they will...doesnt matter if its a food dish, water dish, or what have you :)

We are down to once a week (which I read is o.k.) since any more than that and he will just ignore it.

Since he has never, ever pooped in his dish before I figured it was a statement for the chef.

My skink does this all the time. He sleeps when not hungry... then basks and does not want to eat. But 3 days later he is hungry. Banana was the meal today.
