Orange plus orange equals....

Postby acanthurus » Wed May 18, 2011 11:31 pm

Hi all,

After a long summer of waiting I finally discovered the results of the pairing of my 2 brightest animals. The outcome at frist appeared to be a bit of an anti-climax. Only one baby with what appeared to be amongst the darkest colours of any of the young. After a few weeks though things appear to be changing and she is looking more like her mother every day....

She's so cute! Those last week pictures are absolutely awesome IMO. Even better than the bright-orange to me personally, but hopefully she continues to brighten up for you :D Congratulations!

Wow! She looks great already, but if she actually turns orange, that would be amazing. She looks almost solid black in the first picture. I didn't know they developed those crazy colors, I just assumed they were born that way. The color of my coastal rugosa rugosa didn't change much at all from the time I got them at a couple months old until adulthood. Please post regular updates. I am dying to see how she develops!

Hi
Beautiful animals. In the scincoides the orange and yellows can take up to a year to develop, dont give up yet unless the colour is recessive

Wow - thanks for sharing!! That is amazing. The little one looks great now, but I can't believe that those orange beauties produce such a dark little bub. Please post pictures as this ones grows and changes color.

Fascinating. Congrats on the baby and thanks so much for sharing these. :D

Any changes?

How many babies did you end up getting? I can't remember how many female you bred...

Wow! The colours on those desert variants is amazing. Even if the new bub does not get the same colour to that of mum and dad, he/she will still look stunning. Certainly different to the common coastal form.

Hi,

Everyone is all tucked down for the winter so haven't seen her for a couple of weeks. Every time I see her she seems to be a bit brighter so really looking forward to how she turns out this time next year...

I have 6 adult females, but only had 4 babies this year. I put the group together quite late in the season so I'm happy that any were born. I will put my orange boy back in with the 2 orange girls this spring and hopefully both will produce a few more true orange little ones.
