Introduction period

Postby Kendall_fraser » Thu May 12, 2011 5:55 pm

Hey, New to this. Read all the care sheets I could find on here. Got my little guy this morning. How long do I wait before I offer him food? How long should I wait before handling?

He's discovered an amazing place to burrow. Hope he likes his new home.

You can offer food whenever. Some skinks are not bothered by the move, while others can take months before acting normal. Handling I would give a week or so, but again, depends on the individual skink.

If you do offer food and he refuses, with hold food for a couple days and re offer. Keep doing until he starts eating.

Luckily our skink was quite nice and let us hold him right off the bat. It took him a while to eat thought. I think what Repking said would be best. Offer food, then if he doesnt accept wait a couple days. The skink may also not yet reconize the type of food your offering. (Even though most skinks will eat anything you put infront of them lol)

Good Luck :D

He is eating anything we put in the tank. but only when we are not home. Leaving the food in while we are at work. he is hiding in the repti-bark the entire time we are in the house. is this normal?
