Ca:P ratio in Merrick pet foods

Postby Katrina » Tue Apr 05, 2011 1:24 pm

Following up on an earlier discussion regarding Ca:P ratios in canned pet foods as well as Taurine levels in cat foods, I contacted several brands of pet foods asking for this information (as it isn't available on their websites).

It took a few weeks to get a response, but Merrick sent me the information for all their canned foods so I figured I'd post it for anyone interested. It seems they all have a pretty good Ca:P ratio - not the recommended 2:1, but more calcium than phosphorus. Average Ca:P ratio for dog foods is 1.4:1, cat food is 1.3:1.

I can't get the information to show up well by copying and pasting it here, so if anyone wants the full info send me your email address and I'll email you an excel file with it. :D

Yes please!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
