BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hello,
My BTS keeps on dribbling quite a bit when i get him out, its is not just froffing around his mouth he is dribbling like a dog, has any one ever come accross this and should i be taking him to the vets?

Drooling or any sort of discharge is unusual - is there any discharge from his eyes or nostrils? How long has this been going on? How long have you had him?

I've seen a small amount of 'drool' when they are about to eat live food or something, but not every time I handle them.

there is no discharge from the eyes or nostrils. I have had him over a year and this is the first time i have noticed as he covered my parters less in drewl it does not look/sound like a reapitory infection. could it be mouth rot? how can u tell if it is?

Mouth rot would show on the mouth / jaw - you would see sores or some sign of a problem.

Is there any chance he just had a drink of water before being handled? If it just a one-time thing I wouldn't be too concerned. If it continues to happen, I'd definitely take him to see a vet.

A couple of my skinks (and I know other people get this) drool after drinking if you bother them.

I did not notice him drinking before but it could be due to this, we had him out for about half an hr though?

I've certainly seen this if picked up too soon after a good drink.

When Joey's been out and his tongue has been going quite a bit, he gets a "gob" of saliva bubbles in the corner of his mouth. I usually just wipe it off, but wonder if it would turn into "drool" if I didn't....
We're probably not at all talking about the same thing, but thought I'd mention it.

One of my young easterns will drool a little if he gets too stressed out over being handled.

I too have seen this as a pain/stress response.

Every once in a while my IJ will have a little spittle in the corners of her mouth, keep tellin her its not very ladylike but she doesnt seem to care...
