Cat Food?

Postby Crunchy101 » Thu Mar 24, 2011 12:01 am

Ok so ive got a Blotched BTS and a Bearded Dragon and either of them eat there greens, so i was thinking of giving them some cat food and mix the greens in with that.
I live in Australia, whats the best cat food to get over here? someone mentioned on another form to get "Wiskas" cat food? (We sell that at the supermarket) Should i get that or a different brand? ASAP please as im going to supermarket soon!!!!
Thanks

I'm not sure about beardies eating cat/dog food, but blueys can. It doesn't really matter what brand you get. Try to pick something with ingredients you can understand, but just grab something and use that. You can switch it up next time to keep a variety.

You should definitely ask on a beardy-specific forum if they should be allowed cat/dog food though. Yes, they're omnivores, but that doesn't necessarily mean they can process the same foods safely.

The concensus seems to be that dog food is better than cat food but a little of anything will be ok. Some people feed virtually nothing but dog food with some other stuff thrown in with great results.

Most decent loaf style dog foods are good but gravy ones are just as bad as cat food. I'm personally not sold on cat food for blueys. I don't know enough about beardies to comment on that one.

My blotchies get Mydog loaf style beef with veges mainly but others that seem ok but most of the loaf style ones I've tried with added veges seem good. I rotate them around a bit. They get bored with one variety and stop eating it after a while.
If you wait, all that happens is that you get older. M. Andretti

You can mix greens and veggies into canned cat or dog food. :)

A picky skink is not a hugry skink. How much and how often are you feeding him? How old is he?

If you chop the greens / veggies and mix them in to canned cat or dog food, they shouldn't be able to pick them out.
