i remember not being too keen on these types of blueys.....What the hell was I thinking?!?! I love them! So cute!

Just wondering, where about in Aus would you find these guys (wild ones)?

Head east. I think you will start to find some when you get to S.A., Victoria, and N.S.W. I don't have a map in front of me, but they are over there somewhere in that area.

Thank you all,yes it addicted me completly.
I have seen some Shingles now, but for me the black ones are the best.
But my love for tortoises is still very alive.
Next in 2 months I will get some very tortoises out of the USA.
This year realy some dreams come through. :ohyes:

They are our local aspers. Pretty common in the goldfields Box/Ironbark country in Northern Victoria. Jet black that is.

darker ones are usually found in cooler zones ,eg on the western side of the great dividing range which runs up the east coast,there a nice looking couple u have there fred,you have a nice collection happening

They realy start up eating well, they are very curiouse and come looking
whenn I enter the room.
It looks like the black is shining more and more every day.
When they look down when they eat she scale in the neck standup
it realy looks like a dragon head I love it.
I need to look for a site where I can find the temperatures from Australia.

You can start here.
This is for where I live but you can navigate around to find any site in Aus. Just click to download a csv file (opens in excel). Will give you a good range of stats for each site.

For what it is worth aspers do occur in my area but are few and far between. Much more common 100km or so to the West, places like the Whipstick forest near Bendigo where they prefer the rolling hilly landscape, dry open woodland. Their black bodies are almost impossible to see amoungst fallen wood and shadows in a box ironbark forest/woodland environment.
