Re: brumating skinks (wake up and mating to)
i do have a habit of hanging on to a few, like to see how they develop,
but yeah get a few litters and sometimes you have no choice but to find some new homes
some of the blotchies i want to build there numbers up,as i have an outdoor cage of predominantly males
but yes,not counting my chickens before they hatch, looks promising but will see how they go

Yeah understandable was curious as to how many potential births you may have, how many do you usually get each year that give birth?
Love that middle blotch in the last picture, nice pinkish/redish.

Re: brumating skinks (wake up and mating to)
yeah,a cold change came earlyish yesterday which could have played a part, though the big males have been very active for close to 9 days so could also have needed a break

Re: brumating skinks (wake up and mating to)
this old male lowlands shed today, bit late to the party as im starting to think the 3 lasses have shut up shop, zero interest from the boys now, just a good check over when they cross paths, nsw southern alpine male is still pacing like mad and dropping plugs but has also stopped showing any interest in the two female bluemountains in with him, much to there delight as he went non stop,i ended up waking 3 vic alpines i was going to put outdoors to wake up naturally,so might try them with him
and the two young vic alpine males,i was paranoid after losing my old girl whom was brumating with them, they also came out a bit iffy for some reason, maybe to dry for to long, they were wirh the rest of the blotchies till wake up time so maybe had them down to long as kept them brunating
bluemountains seem done as well
also found this, the most silvery lowlands female appear to be ovulating today

Re: brumating skinks (wake up and mating to)
Now that's interesting! I've never seen a photo of an ovulating female Tiliqua nigrolutea before, let alone witnessing it happen. This is no doubt largely due to the fact that I've pretty much kept all my blueys outside in pits all these years.
Witnessing such events is one of the benefits of keeping them indoors.
Could you please tell us how you know that she was ovulating at the time? Is it due to it being a relatively sudden onset of swelling or is it more a qualitative thing. I know that it's most probably just generalised swelling but if it's localised, can you please describe whereabouts it occurs?
By the way, congratulations on making your 10,000th post Richard!

Cripes, dakotas catching up,best i pull finger out and post once in a while, haha
Sheesh i thought i was still in the 7 thou range,i do blab on a bit at times, haha
Tiliqua, its something i occaisionally saw with blotchies outdoors but never really thought anytging of it,or attributed it ti recently pigging out or something, mine tend to start eatibg pretty well long before mating here in melb, lol
Breeding tge bortherns indoors the last 5 seasons ive seen it iften with a couole of them, vecause your mire in control you can tell easier i guess,i dont notice and section swell, they just bloat a bit but they go from acting nornal and active to just sitting there all awkwardly and kinked in certain spots
One female northern this season was fully on her side, but rolled back when i opened cage to take a pic, they seem to just go funny for an hour or two before appearing them selves again, well from what i have seen, and ive only seen it in a few,not all of them
