Wow Jeff. Killer enclosures. I am deliberating about upgrading some my enclosures and am deep in indecision about whether to buy a modular pvc caging system, build something (which could take 30 years not hours) or buy commecially available 36 x 18 x 12 front opening glass terraria (which are smaller than I'd like and somewhat heavier too). Going with cabinetry and modifying it opens up a whole new avenue of possibilities. Thanks!

Trust me. I still wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat sometimes because I had a dream that it is just a dream. Definitely not the kind of thing that normally happens in my real life. I Just got the enclosures built as fast as I possibly could, before something happened to screw it up. I am planning to move skinks into them tomorrow.

Kim, I'm using 40w spot lights for heat:

I got lucky and found them on clearance at Walmart for $5.00 for 2. I have seen them for $5.00 each.

I just have standard 13w CFL's on a timer for light. After I had them set up though, I found these "mini" CFL's that I like even better so I will replace them with these when necessary:



I'm going to use cypress mulch for the northerns, easterns, and blotched, and aspen for the shinglebacks. I am still trying to decide if I want to open up 3 of these enclosures to make a 90" x 23" for the shingles, or to keep them in their current enclosure separate from these.
