Glad your first skink didn't make you sway away from blueys in general!

just remember be patient, especially being wildcaught, they may take some time to learn to trust you, running to cover is what they do in nature ,how they survive being picked off by predators,so yours is acting quite normal in that regard
going through the whole taken from the wild, held poorly with many others before enough are collected for export, then being sent to wholesalers, probably still not kept ideally before finally getting a decent home is alot for them to go through, they have to get over the stress ascotiated with that, get used to a new territory(cage) whilst at the same time worry about that big person that keeps approaching and sometimes/often reaching for it
it wont happen overnite, sometimes its good to just leave them be and give them time,in particular wild caughts, adding stress to an already stressed animal isnt good medicine,it removes any safety they feel they may have in there new environment prolonging adjustment times
just a thought anyways
