Thanks for bringing the whole action thing to my attention guys! I'm starting to re-think this whole real-time thing. I currently have a list of apx. 30 things a bluey could do(see below), but watching it sleep or bask all day would probably not entertain most people. Especially for the animals that like to hide.
My solution: 5 real minutes = 1 game hour. Therefor: 2 real hours = 1 game day, 1 real day = 12 game days, 1 real year = 4380 game gays. In this a skink year would take. I believe this means a game year would be almost a month (30.5 days). My math may be messed up.
Now the game would follow this set up, but if I get a "background herp" program going, such as your herp lives in the backround of your computer, it may be working in real-time. So how does this sound for everyone? Think it would be realistic enough but still fun?
My current list of do-able actions (ones with explainations below are marked with *s):
Sleep, Explore, Dig, Climb, Escape*, Eat, Drink, Bask, Hide, Want Out*, Swim, Bathe, Organize*, Strike, Display, Hiss, Poo, Shed, Brumjate, Rise*, Mate*, Birth, Circle, Wiggle*, Taste, Watch, Fight, Cuddle*, Scratch, Run.
Escaping or wanting out is just the actions where they claw at the door or try to squirm into the corners.
Organizing is where they push things around in their tank.
Rise is where they lift themselves up against something.
Mating can only be done between 2 obviously.
Wigglign is just a little shaking action I've seen Cow and other lizards do.
Cuddling can happed between 2+ herps where they just happen to get into a group.
Help with ideas for my actions? If you need an explaination feel free to ask!
