New Project: Northerns!

Kill me now, but I am on the list for some very cool dark Northerns. They resemble what Mel produces up in Canada. I pray they are both female, because I'm not getting more than four. I am just going to have to break down and start selling any excess males if they aren't females. I think mixing this dark line with my existing ones will look good, especially the smaller one with the dark portholes.

So far, the smaller one has been coming out more. Rarely do I ever see Skull out. When I do, he runs to his hide. Both are quite skittish compared to even my Halmaheras. Hunter was the same way when I got him, but eventually he came around. I don't try to force myself on them. They eventually get a hang of me being around.

I meant to comment earlier, but in truth I was avoiding this topic after it had started to drift a little off topic. Anyway, I love the pictures of Skull. He's a brute of a skink. Good luck with your northern Dakota, it will be interesting to see what these guys produce. And even if you don't end up breeding I think its great to delve into the other side of bts. Love to hear more on how you're fairing with them.

Wow, thanks Lea! Much more presentable thread— I like it.

I like Skull a lot. Can't get over how massive his head is. Has to be twice the size of my Halmaheras. I would truly hate to take a bite from him. So far he is just a pansy; he stays in just one part of his enclosure almost all day. As far as the the two goes, I still like the wide-banded one better. He has a better personality, and I think looks more favorable.

With Northerns, I like to see them with lots of black. The two babies I am on the list for are going to be wicked dark. Unlike anything I've seen in the US. I just hope my wallet cooperates when they are finally here and for sale.

In other news, I decided to name my favorite of the two "Van". Lol.

Those straight black bars on Van look similar to my (assumed) girl Tiberi. Lot more speckling on Van though, very nice subtle colors there.

I agree, they do look similar! I think the main difference are the tails and, like you said, yours is more speckled. Van has a white tail with black speckles; your Northern has quite a bold pattern on the tail. If you ever come down to south Florida, maybe we can arrange a play-date. (Kidding, of course; can't forget about the quarantine process. )

I'm partial to UNO.

Tiberi ended up looking a lot like her father but her tail looks more like her mother's. She's only about three and a half, so I'm not sure if the rings will lose their distinction through her life or what.
