Dog Food Recommendation

You can cook and add meat to the dog food and veggies you feed, but you don't have to. The dog food with some added veggies and greens is fine, or even just plain dog food is fine. I do all those options on their own and combinations of them, sometimes dog food alone, sometimes I add meat, sometimes I add veggies and greens, sometimes I add veggies, greens, AND meat, sometimes I cook meat and add veggies and greens.
From time to time I feed the beef raw with stuff mixed in. Not often, but it happens.

I feed different brands, I like to vary what I use rather than feed the same thing or brand all the time. I use Wellness a lot, Blue Buffalo, Nulo, Instinct. I like to keep my eye out for other brands and formulations within the brands as well. I do prefer grain free but it's not a must --a lot of the time the grain free costs more and instead has potato or rice as one of the main ingredients. So I don't necessarily have a brand I'd recommend. It does not, in my opinion, have to be a high end brand either, nor do I think you in any way have to stay away from meat by-products or by-product meal. By-products are the highly nutritious parts of butchered animals that humans consider too gross to eat.

I agree about by products... I don't like poultry / chicken by-products because they often include feathers, beaks, etc. which aren't very digestible, but I don't have any issues with beef by-products. Including some by-products (or organ meats) helps to better simulate a whole prey model... I wouldn't feed my snakes chicken breast for the same reason, they need the bones, organs, etc. in the prey item.

I find they tend to go on eating strike if I feed the same thing over and over. They do seem to respond to variety.

Good morning again all. Now I'm reading about people using dry dog food instead of canned wet for their BTS. I'm so confused. I think I'm set with a canned dog food as a staple protein (Health Extension Holistic Beef) The ingredients are just Beef, Beef Broth & Garlic. No other bad stuff:
No By-Products
No Rendered Animal Fats
No Corn
No Glutens
No Soy
No Artificial Preservatives
No Wheat
No BHT
No Ethoxyquin
No Added Sugar
No Artificial Flavors, Colors or Dyes

But what about dry dog food as an alternate? Anyone have any experience with it? What brands are the best? Thank you in advance!!

Susann, artgecko, El Lobo & Scotts1au, I'm sorry I didn't see your replies until just now. Thanks for all of the comments and advice!!! My Skink won't eat any vegetables or fruit unless I mince them in a food processor and mix with the dog food and chicken breast.
Still anyone use dry food?

Susann suggested to me a while ago to go with the Wellness 95% Turkey and the Wellness 95% Beef canned dog food. It has no grain in it at all. At least that is what it says. Toad loves it and he is VERY healthy. lol

We do have some members who do feed dry food and I haven't heard of any problems with it as long as you make sure that they have clean drinking water at all times. Just make sure that the pieces either are small enough to be swallowed without any problems, or that the skink is able to crunch the pieces with his jaws.

I feed Mazuri Insectivore pellets from time to time just dry and my skinks eat them without any problems.
