You said you suspected Louie to be a male because he doesn't like to explore too much. Is that a trait of males?
We have two babies and are hoping we have a pair. They definitely look and act differently, but it just could be their individual personalities.

It drives me crazy that we can't sex these things as babies.
Are there any good threads you can point me to with the characteristics of each sex or is this an impossible mission we just all keep driving ourselves crazy trying?

Usually it is quite opposite. Males tend to be the ones that roam around, especially during season.

Halmahera sexing in my experience is very easy, even as tiny neonates. Here is a thread:

Take it as a grain of salt, not my call. Works every time for me, so maybe something to consider.

I'm just guessing he is a male based of his head shape compared to the other Eastern i have, the problem with characteristics is they can happen in both sexes. he could end up to be a girl or the one i think is a girl might be a boy.

Zippo's enclosure is now finished, been running around like crazy past couple days while doing it with any luck he will settle down in a few days or so, he isn't to happy about me taking away his favourite rock going to have to find a spot to put it in.

Haven't done the other enclosures yet, waiting for them to shed and then i clean them out put the new substrate in and work on it, no sense doing it all now and then a week from now having shedding stuck all through the substrate.

Thinking more and more that Zippo is indeed a boy, it's starting to warm up now and he is going banana's at first i thought that it was because i changed his enclosure around but in the past it takes him about a day for him to settle down again and he usually just sleeps for that day, for the past few days he has been running around constantly scratching to get out which he has rarely done in the past, and now he is trying to be a monkey or something keeps climbing his plant which im still amazed and confused by, heres a few pictures of it.

Say that to the constant scratching everyday Ali, he does loops of his enclosure over and over each day same pattern, nothing like trying to sleep in or take a nap with him scratching to get out.

Absolutely beautiful lizards. I'm usually partial to northerns and westerns, but I am completely in love with Zippo. He seems like he has such character.

He has flattened the leaves out of the plant from constantly walking on them and climbing them, have to keep adjusting them, Myra climbed her plant yesterday as well.
Edit: I went to pick up Myra, she got scared, hissed, farted then ran away, still laughing about it myself.

Keep straighting the plant out every couple days but then he flattens it to the ground again, here he is sitting on it like it's a trophy or something.

Myra thinking the tongs are food, Myra and Zippo go to town on the tongs thinking its food, im really glad i got the plastic ones so less likely they will hurt themselves on it, Myra the other day when i fed her the last of the mealworms would even get on the back legs and wrestle as i tried to pull the tongs away from her into air, think of playing tug of war with a dog that refused to let go.

they are very very very cute.how old is louie? because louie is me and my mum's fave.

Thankfully they don't try to eat my fingers even if they are holding food, and thats not the tongs that is shredded thats mealworm food stuck to the tongs, when the bubs try to devour the tongs they make them wet so then stuff sticks to it. the second they see the tongs Zippo and Myra try to eat the dam thing like theres no tomorrow, usually ignoring the food right infront of them.
Louie was born on the 7/1/2015 so he is a bit over 8 months old.
Decided to let Louie roam around the bed as i layed there listening to my book yesterday, looks like he has picked up his old habit of pretending im not there and just walking all over me and my face to explore.

Been awhile since i did an update been meaning to get around to it but keep getting sidetracked or distracted, first up will be showing of Myra's progress.

Personality wise shes pretty much the same still very scared and timid, basks a lot more though and has turned into a big pig, while Zippos scoffs food down instantly Myra licks the dam plate clean and her growth mirrors that appetite, she is visually huge compared to the others, while the measurements show she is bigger by a bit it doesn't do justice on the visual size difference.
Visually she has gotten a lot darker, she has generally been a light coloured skink now she has started to get a lot of black colour between her scales especially her lower half.

Looks like 2 completely different bluei's to me, hope she gets some of that brownish and goldish colours back when shes finished growing.

Now for Zippo's turn,

Personality wise he is pretty much the same he always wants to dive of my lap or off the bed to crawl around and explore, he always wants to get out of his enclosure to explore but now when i hold him he sometimes walks up to my face and starts to just lick me and nuzzle against my neck from warmth, thats the only time he really sits still.
Visually there isnt much difference at least no noticeable difference, still has the same colour blotches on him.

He has only grown 1 or 2CM in the past couple months and has lost 15-20grams which is my fault for accidental missing a few meals with the skinks as days getting mixed up/busy, and i also changed to 2 feeds a week not 3.
