Re: Introducing my newest family Member
Im a bit worried he seems to be doing deep kind of big breathing like the front of his body kind of expands and contracts with it, would that be due to him still settling in?
I looked at the symptoms for Respiratory infections and he has none of those,
He isnt sneezing a lot, he isn't panting/breathing really fast, no mucus, no drooling, he isn't sneezing to frequently, physically he looks in tip top shape just that kind of heavy breathing.
Edit: Ok so on closer look i think im just over-reacting because Louie the Eastern breaths the same i just never looked close enough.

Thinking of maybe calling the Blotchie Draco or Zippo because as a kid(still do) i loved Dragonheart and Dinotopia.
Edit: I've decided on Zippo because i don't like Harry potter and from what i do remember of them as a kid i hated that smug blonde little !&@%#@

BTS don't have a diaphragm. Their breathing is by muscular contraction and expansion, i.e. tensioning and relaxing the muscle.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who do not.

Re: Introducing my newest family Member
might just be normal breathing.blotchies especially can get puffy compared to other tiliqua especiallu when quite active, also if u are in cage or close by that can also make them get a bit huffy puffy, young blotchies can have some tude
sounds pretty normal though ,with ri you would see watery eyes, bubbly mucus from mouth and possably nostrils ect, your lil tyke looks in good shape so i doubt you have anything to worry about, just keep an eye on them, its good to anyways and u will learn abit about there behaviours just sitting there and watching what they get up to
thats actually what i love best about them, just watching and learning, they always keep u guessing and learning, even after 35 years of keeping them

Re: Introducing my newest family Member
I think the heavier breathing was just him being a bit stressed because not used to being handled and such, I've inspected him over a couple times no forms of illness, no cuts, no missing scales etc, i am very interested to see how his colours change over time can't wait for that first shed.
He is a lot more active and less shy then my Eastern so it's fun to watch him from a distance or to watch him explore around my bed, i can be watching him, turn around to take a sip of a drink and then look back and he will be hidden and curled up under a pillow or planet the cheeky thing.
