Sedation - I've no real experience with blotched blueys yet but from what I've been told lately these guys have very bold personalities. That babes (in general) tend to stand their ground moreso then flee and adults have a very calm and confident way about them. From what I've been told my new boy is a bit atypical from that normal bold outgoing type A personality and is quite shy so Im not sure how generalized that personality info is but I don't mind either way. I love admiring reptiles from afar almost as much as having one hang in my lap.

They sure look like 2.2 to me. At least with your females it's very obvious. I really hope you guys all have some success this upcoming season.

Diana,personalities are as variable in these guys as any,some are very mellow,others are nutjobs and lots are in between

If timid of you they will stand there ground if they feel threatened,some run off before tgey can be cornered,a couple of mine wont flee though,they sit there watching me when i go in cage,and look placid,until i get closer then they display and will bite at me,the nut jobs,lol,one in particular comes over to snap at me,another one is very timid,flees when it sees you,but if its gravid its totally different,it will sprint at me from 6 metres away and aggressivly attack my feet,or hands if i catch it dropping babies,she does this right through being gravid to,from around mating time until around a month after dropping,mood swinging nut job,lol

The majority of them are pretty mellow though,very bold,from all the aussie species i keep,these guys are like the pit bulls of aussie tiliqua,they seem to dominate any species there housed with

Vic alpine smaller one, bigger one i thought was one to but getting less convinced as the yellows going being replaced by brown,her sibling still has alot of yellow and it gets orangey to,but starting to think perhaps one of the small lowlands got into alpine cage for a quick romp,the culprit done it once before and mated the vic alpine/lowlands cross female,a small male that seemed to have topped out at 30cm

Hence why they dont live with main vic alpine group now

Pic in last post is from last season,this post is fresh shed pics of her taken yesterday to give idea of coloring,i actuallu like the look of her but deep down think she must be a cross so will stick to that

This old lass is a definate cross,was from the first litter i produced with my old bat vic alpine lass,at the time she was my only alpine,bred indoors with a lowlands male,this one turns 19 in march,and has had litters to both lowlands males and the dominant vic alpine male

Bred to lowlands they look like lowlands babies,bred to a vic alpine i get a mix ,mostly alpine looking with one or two lowlands looking ones

Blotchie raising cage containing bluemountains and vic alpines.in the middle with head furtherest away is the oddball looking one,old pic before i popped them outside this time last year,shes alot more yellow back then,one thing i have noticed with her and her sib is the blotches are washed out with alot of black in them,and there black bits are very black,more so than even the bluemountains and vic alpines,they came from a high black female produced by the old pr of vic alpines

This is the old dominant male,father of the mother of the oddballs,that season he was only one seen to mate her,which doesnt mean alot because theres a few males in there

I know most folk like the bright yellow/orange flashy, I think its, bluemountains locale blotchies and don't get me wrong. I LOVE them. But I cant help but love the look of the lowland types. I love the muted earth tone colors and they always seem to have heads that resemble a dinosaur.

Not just bluemountains are bright red/pink,alot of the nsw ones share that,and some bluemountains stay bright yellow and black,the bluemoinrains is a pretty decent sized area to,not just a small town,lots of variety in them,some of the tasmanian ones are stunning to,i like the red headed lowlands looking ones,other tassie ones look very similar to mainland lowlands,and then theres some alpine looking varieties to

I love the species as a whole,the variety in them is an added bonus

If i can get myself organised im hoping to add some flinders island blotchies to the collection

Oh nice, I REALLY like those! Good grief I wish we had the diversity you do with blotchies. Crap, with all aussie bts! But at least you take almost as many pictures as me so we can all live vicariously through your photos.

Im so excited to be able to work with blotchies, especially Kims. No rush to breed but will start saving for a wee babe in maybe 2-3 years. When the hubby found out about this one I just about slept on the couch but then he let it slip he put a down payment on a pair of pure diamond pythons, haha, so not in trouble anymore. lol.

Here is one of my males for want of a better name - Brutus :-) He is a bit of a brute and loves a scuffle with the other boys in Spring, hence why he is separated out at the moment. At approximately 700 grams and 47cm he is quite large for a blotched male.

This is the female from my previous post above. I kept here because of the white background, I had a feeling the pink tones would come through well. Seems to be progressing well. The thing with orange babies is that you pretty much know what u are going to get, but.....

Ok this ones just shed,had to give it a hand because it has a bit of shoulder and head neck scarring,this ones the smaller sibling to the possable cross i previous posts above,i was thinking male because the other ones from that year,bkuemountains and vic alpines out grew it,this one stayed skinny and small,but probably due to being lower in the pecking order,its slowly caught up since being put outdoors last season,this ones been harrassed the most this season since wake up,could it be a female,or possably just gets grabbed at because it flees alot,time will tell i guess

This ones got better coloring,but like its big fat sister,the yellow,or in this ones case the orange,is washed out with alot of black flecking through it to,even on lower flanks

As babies both of these looked just like typical newborn vic alpines,the big one started dulling into her second year,both have high black like there mother and the dominant vic alpine male,he has the black wash through hus yellow blotches to,i have babies from same female from the following two seasons,so will be interesting to see how they develop in comparison,oddly the pr from previos season seem to be doing similar,bigger fatter ones dulled a tad,smaller i think male ones holding color well so far,last seasons ones are in with 2 other litters and they all look typical vic alpine,so im stuck not knowing for sure until i do some more experimenting with the parents of these,but have a feeling they may be kosher
