Stroking nervous hiding lizards is akin to wacking a hornets nest, tugging on the ear of an aggressive dog, having vegetarians over for dinner and cooking roast lamb, all can be done, but can 100 percent say it will pee them off

They arent puppies,u dont train them like puppies,re petting and socialising them to people ect,you cant tell them what to do,or force them, they are the ones that teach them selves, all we can do is not stress them,be patient and give them a chance to learn to trust us in there time

Just because they sit still when out ect, doesnt mean they are happy, some freeze up and cop it,others dont

I usually use the tongs to keep the food away from my hands, especially since I handle other food for Taiga and the geckos. That, and sometimes I just don't like touching the waxworms they feel so... weird. xD

I also hate touching superworms, oh my goodness do they feel so... wiggly! LOL!

Hearing that really puts it into perspective. Sometimes its hard to realize that they ARENT mammals, and don't have the same responses as our dogs or cats do. I catch myself treating Emma like that sometimes, but do my best to approach her differently

Dont get me wrong, some actually seem to like attention,i have some that even like head rubs, lean into it like a dog,lol

But as a rule they dont seek us out for attention like a cat or dog do,even parrots, those thrive on us interacting with them, stress if we dont, reptiles are happy as larry without us needing to do all that, but theres nothing wrong with interacting with them,i do it"but to them they probably sit there thinking sheesh, this humans quite needy, wish he woukd bugger off and entertain himself elsewhere sometimes, lol
