2nd males clicked into gear and been chasing and grabbing the bigger female and the tiny female,these guys are so clutzy

Room temp got up to 21 and has only dropped down to 15.6 over night so should rise good again today,so will keep an eye on them

Darned stumpies,pretty certain i just missed a copulation between tiny female and the male produced from my old pr,room temps been up as high 22.8 today but currently down to 15,im not going to count it as one as i prefer to know for sure

1 day shy of a calendar month from wake up and i finally got a mating pic of stumpies,got some good video of the lead up to,this female isnt the one hes been showing most interest in either,least fave of the 3,ive seperated the other male as this males been biting at his legs, his still following the female around

Back ground temp is 16.9 degrees celcius

Same pr at it again,ended up copulating ontop of the other 3,back ground temp is 16 degrees celcius,makes me wonder how many matings ive missed,hes still hanging round her,but also checking young female with intent to,the other male started showing interest first,but seems to have lost interest since this males showed interest

They have been together for 10 years 24/7

I seperated them the other day as they were nudging at each other a bit and then the mating male was grabbing at him,before that the other male was showing interest and nudging the mating male away,until mating male started showing interest,popped them back together now with no issues so far

Ok, great, but how large is the enlosure?

7x2x2 foot ,though 4x2x2 at the moment as moved them to brumate then warm up due to a northern living in usual cage

So whenn I'm right thats 2.13 meters x 0.6x0.6.
Ok, than I keep the rugosa rugosa in about the same size, hope I can keep them together also after the winter.

Lol, I love how the other shingleback is just lazily resting his head on them as they perform! It's as if he's saying "boring! I'll just wait here til you're done and then really show her some action"! Just shows how tolerant they are, even during the most intimate of acts, when they could be at their most territorial. It's so different to most other blue tongues, except maybe the blotched, who would likely show a lot of aggression during mating time.

Fred, I have kept my group together 24/7 for 3 years now with no problems. The only time I separate is when i have potentially gravid females and I want the mother alone.

My enclosure is 6' x 2' and I have kept as many as 4 males in there at the same time. The ONLY time there have been any issues at all is during the mating season, and they are mostly body language type things that are obviously shows of dominance by one male to another. From what I have seen, they sort themselves out from the alpha male to the "little boy", and everyone knows their place. Because of that, no one really challenges the alpha male, he just let's them know when they get too close to his girl.

I do think the presence of other males motivates all potential breeder males to pay more attention to the females than they would if they were alone with her. It is very interesting to watch!

Thats what ive found to jeff,but have heard some males can fight,these 2 mostly nudge,i removed one because other grabbed his arm,but it looked gentle,more like he grabbed at anything that moved,as he was grabbing at all 3 females to before he really tried mating,hes been back in now with no issue

Lea if u look close theres another female under them popping out on the right,head on top is the small female,the other makes out of shot but is half under them to and rest popping out to the left

looks like female from pics of mating is up the duff,started noticing heavier breathing plus shes starting to chow down food like theres no tommorrow,fed enough for 4 of them earlier,gravid lass and young female cleaned it up before others knew it was there,young lass hasnt shown any signs,maybe needs another footy season of growth,lol

first observed mating was september the 8th,so a ways to wait yet,be interesting to see what gestation period is
