Well thanks! He seems to do well in it. I'd love something a little wider as it's only 48" x 18". 48" x 24" would give better opportunity for a setup. I need to figure out something a little easier for his water dish. I've tweaked the cage a little bit since that picture. Whenever I move in the next few years, I am going to look into getting him a bigger custom cage. Maybe 5' x 2' with a sliding glass front panel if I am lucky!

Here's Gucci on my forearm for size reference (this is not how he is typically held, it's just tough to take a one handed photo with a squirmer)


He seems to like exploring the living room. It's pretty skink-proofed. Nothing he can crawl into or under that he can't be taken from easily. He seems intrigued by the Roomba.

With much more examination. I now believe this is a Merauke x Indonesian intergrade.

Fair play mate, that's quite a lump a lizard you got there, the id is difficult as there are traits of Indo and Merauke, it could be from a cross even natural from overlapping regions if it was wild caught, do have any history at all??

All I know is it was wild caught and was very young when it was sold to the original owner. I suppose it could be a natural cross.

Had Gucci out earlier. He was so energetic! Constantly tongue flicking. I offered him a cricket treat but he seems to think thumbs are the food...

Yesterday I added a lot more substrate to the cage for extra digging and humidity. He seems to approve.



He also seems to really like being near a subwoofer when there's bass-heavy music on. It wasn't very loud, but he went up pretty close to it and hung out while he had his free-roaming time. Fed him a tiny piece of banana as well and he seemed very pleased.

SO cute! And so big! His tongue almost looks so light that it is pink in that vid Your big guy is very alert and active. Again, very cute! Good snag on this big BTS.
