My vote can be swayed slightly with more photos of your awesome collection, and completely bought with free awesome reptiles shipped to my house.

Pfft... that's nothing. I once traded a proven pair of blue-eyed, leucistic shinglebacks with green fluorescing proteins for a rescued iguana, 3 tokays and a dozen anoles... all with regenerated tails. Sixteen animals in exchange for two?!!! How could I POSSIBLY turn that down?!!

Hi Richard. It appears that there are two genes involved here. An amelanistic and an axanthic gene. One of the siblings of the albinos had an axanthic appearance (lacking yellow). Apparently, both parents of the albinos (they were siblings) carried the axanthic and amelanistic gene. The albino with more color is amelanistic, the other washed out albino is amelanistic and axanthic, also known as a snow in Herpetoculture. The odds of producing a visual axanthic and amelanistic in the same animal is 1 out of 16, providing both parents carried the genes for both mutations. The odds of producing either an albino or an axanthic alone is 1 in 4. A certain percentage of the babies from the parents would carry the trait for either or both of these mutations, that is, they would be heterozygous for these traits. It is really remarkable that a brother and sister T. gigas bred together produced these babies.

Which skink had both genes? I don't see any hint of axanthic in any of them:

Re: More Albino T. gigas Pics
The white one obviously had the axanthic. If it didn't it would look like the pink/orange one (albino). Albino + Axanthic = Snow. Snow is the very white appearance.
And as I've asked many times before, is there any actual proof that the black/white gigas that keep popping up (ML's photo - who gets the credit for that btw?) are actually Axanthic? Axanthic is a genetic morph, black/white is a color. Obviously the snow was a genetic axanthic, not just a pretty color.

Fatal beat me to it. Monitor, if you are not 100% sure about the genetics you are talking about dont insult everyone's intelligence by spouting off please.
I'd be curious to know if the black white thing is inheritable? Has anyone seen evidence of this, even if its not axanthism?

Those are cbb axanthic indonesians. I have pictures of the adults also as well as the breeders email if you wish to contact them.
What I meant was:
1) If you post a picture that you do not own the rights to you need to add a blurb stating who owns the right to that photograph. Technically you should be first asking the person if you may use it as an example, and then putting who owns the rights to it and that you have permission to use it. I'm pretty lenient but others are not. You need to stop just posting other people's photos or information without providing credit. This goes for everyone.
and
2) Just because a skink is black/white and has black/white babies it is not for sure an axanthic. Axanthic is a very specific genetic morph. Black/white Indo's are relatively normal, while axanthics would be quite rare. It is possible that any black/white Indo is an axanthic, but that needs to be proven out before it can be claimed to be an axanthic.
For example if an axathic is bred with a normal, the babies will likely look normal but carry a hidden gene for axanthic. Bred back to the parents or to siblings some babies would be axanthic, some would carry the gene, others would look normal. If a black/white was bred to a normal the babies would probably look something in-between.
I'm not saying those babies aren't axanthic, but I'm asking if there's any proof that they are.

ML- its impossible to read inflection in your voice when just reading words on a screen. You have a tendency to make very brief posts which read as being rudely written. Your very short question reads as being demanding or doubtful of the information you are questioning. Please take a little extra time to word your responses more thoroughly so folks don't get mistakenly offended.
