These locks we glued with hot glue gun to tarantula cage, you can buy locks to use instead of twist ties like I have.(my kids know better than to unlock any cages, and it is sitting high up) the second lock works for sliding door terrariums.

both are pretty inexpensive.

Krippschick, that's some serious glue! If somebody pulled on the lock, would it hold, or is it just to keep the animal from being able to slide the door open? (a tarantula, are they THAT strong?)

Phaemas, it has been proven by actions of others that you have no choice in this. Whether you had anything to do with the attack or not, these are YOUR animals, you are in charge. If people in your home don't respect you enough to leave your animals alone, then you HAVE to secure your animals some other way. In this case LOCKS, preferably after a veterinary check up.
Lock the room they are in (quarantine shot now, no point in keeping them apart for that reason, but you MUST keep them apart, ALWAYS), or if you can't do that, then you must lock the vivariums that your animals are in.

I can't lock Miles cage as its to hard for even my step dad to open (Theres a secret trick to opening it) so that ones safe.

Serinas cage i'm going to look into a pad lock for.(Would that work or no?) as its's got a sliding screen lid on top with a hook thing on it and the cage for a lock.

Marvin is kept in my room and there's too many things other hate in there scarted around but i'll look into a lid for it.

I agree with Fatal_S . It sounds like you need to wait until you're a little older and have a place of your own so that you can keep your reptiles safe . You're responsible for their care and a responsible adult would either give them away or set some serious boundaries . You should of waited until you were fully ready and equipped to house an animal . I hope Marvin is ok and that Serina will get all the care she/he needs .

Susann- the glue is on a tarantula cage, and my husband says it will keep it from getting out, but a person could pull it off. I dont know if there is some other adhesive that would be more solid. :)

Phaemas--yes, a padlock should work great. You probably have the same type of cage that we have two of; there are holes to hang a lock through that prevents the lid from being slid open. It doesn't need to be a super big or super heavy one, just anything that only you have a key to.

Krippschick--Gorilla glue should work. It bonds super tight. Works with almost all hard (porous or non-porous) materials. Believe the part in the instructions that says PERMANENT; they ain't kiddin'!

Katrina wrote:One bite on the side shouldn't be a big deal at all. Happens all the time in mating. If it didn't break the scales I wouldn't worry at all, just be much more careful about quarrantine and making sure people in your household know how to responsibly handle and care for these guys.

Not sure what the question about the colors is. If you are unsure, post a picture.

Just do as Katrina says, and things should be ok. She knows what she is talking about.

@ El Lobo : I love that!

I'd really like to see pictures of the discoloration?

Yeah, I fully agree with Fatal S.
Of course, my opinion is that underage kids/people who live with parents really should not be buying animals, ESPECIALLY multiple animals. Parents can get tired of them at any point and get rid of them, set them loose, etc.

My parents are great, but if i had reptiles when i was a kid, they would not have gotten vet care, since they would have had to go to a special vet, and cost more money. My mom would have been like :noknow: it will be fine, or it will die. *shrug*

If i had attempted to get reptiles when i had to move back in with her as an adult...she would have taken it to a pet store when i was away.

Just the hard truth, if you arent 100% in control of your living situation...you should reconsider having pets, especially multiples.
